APPROVALS
1. Use of the mask
General:
The certified mask does not exempt the user from the application of barrier gestures complemented by social distancing measures which are essential in accordance with the recommendations indicated by the Ministry of Health.
NOTE - Collective protection measures take priority over individual protection measures.
For the mask to be effective, it must be used correctly as indicated below. For this reason, the fitting, use and removal of certified pediatric masks must be supervised by an adult.
2. Mask fitting
It is recommended to place the mask on bare skin (i.e. without the presence of hair in contact with the user's skin and, for some people, shaved skin) and to respect the following steps:
1. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a hydroalcoholic solution before handling the mask.
2. Identify the top of the mask.
3. Position the mask on the face, at the level of the nose. If a nose clip is available, adjust it to the nose.
4. Hold the mask from the outside and fasten the headgear behind the mask or on both sides of the ears, without crossing them.
5. Lower the lower part of the mask to the chin.
6. Check that the mask covers the chin.
7. Pinch the nose clip with both hands to tighten it to the nose (if present).
8. Check that the mask is correctly fitted. For this it is necessary to verify the seal and the absence of respiratory discomfort.
9. Once fitted, do not touch the mask with your hands. If the user needs to touch the mask, hands should be washed with soap and water or rubbed with a water-alcohol solution.
3. Removal of the mask
To avoid contamination when removing a mask, the following steps should be followed:
1. Remove protective gloves.
2. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a water-alcohol solution.
3. Remove the mask without touching the front of the mask.
4. If the mask is to be reused see section 4 and section 5, and if it is to be disposed of permanently see section 6.
5. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a water-alcohol solution.
4. Washing and drying of the mask
A complete wash cycle (wet, wash, rinse) should be carried out with the usual detergent at a wash temperature of ≤60 °C.
Contact between a soiled mask (to be laundered) and clean clothing should be avoided. The person in charge of laundering should be protected to handle dirty masks. Products that may degrade or damage the materials and diminish their protective capacity should not be used.
Type of drying: Drying in horizontal position.
Do not dry or sanitise in a microwave oven. During both drying and subsequent storage of the mask, avoid environments where the mask may become re-contaminated. After each wash cycle, a visual inspection (with protective gloves or washed hands) should be performed. If any damage to the mask (reduced fit, deformation, wear, etc.) is detected, the mask should be discarded.
5. Mask removal
To reduce the risks of using these masks, it should be noted that once the maximum number of washes has been exceeded, they should be discarded.
6. Mask Disposal Procedure
Masks should be disposed of in a container fitted with a plastic bag (preferably with a lid and a non-manual control). It is recommended to use a double bag to preserve the contents of the first bag in case of tearing of the outer bag.
7. Recommended period of use
For convenience and hygiene, it is recommended not to use the mask for more than 4 hours at a time. If the mask becomes damp or deteriorated by use, it is recommended to replace it with another one.
